Marlins Pay Tribute to Jose Fernandez

This year, North America and Cuba lost an amazing hero. Jose Fernandez, American baseball player and star pitcher for the Marlins was found dead with other 2 people among the wreckage of his 32-foot SeaVee.

The accident took place on September 25, 2016, Miami Beach.

In the weeks since Fernandez died in that boating accident, many tributes and memorials have been held in his memory.

Fernandez was born in Cuba and successfully defected at the age of 15. On that successful attempt, José’s mother fell overboard, he dove into the water and later it was found saved his own mother’s life.

We don’t know the details of the crash, which took his life. Authorities, found no alcohol, or drugs involved in this tragic accident. The U.S. Coast Guard found the vessel was traveling at a top speed between 50 and 65 mph when it crashed the rocks.

Fernandez was not piloting the vessel, there were two other men identified, however their identification is being withheld as per the families request. America, and Cuba truly will feel this great loss.

Jeffrey Loria, marlins owner, still mourning Jose’s departure, Loria and the players as well want to dedicate next year to themselves and to the memory of Jose.
